A lead experience architect (LXA) is responsible for facilitating, generating and executing great user experiences for our clients and their end users. Acting as a coach, mentor and lead for both internal teams as well as an advocate for our clients’ needs, a lead experience architect is a true veteran of human-centered design, interaction design and design research – and still in love with getting their hands dirty.

Responsibilities

  • User experience planning and development
  • Responsible for the execution of strong interaction design and visual design principles
  • Facilitating dialog around end-user requirements and business requirements
  • Guiding clients through key design engagements
  • Performing user research
  • Driving innovative solutions within platform constraints and technical limitations
  • Developing interaction models and conceptual frameworks of experience
  • Researching interaction design trends
  • Researching technology trends

Requirements

  • Strong conceptualization ability and strong visual communication ability
  • Exceptional design skills, production value and attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks and associated design tools
  • Extensive experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies across multiple platforms
  • Clear leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong client-facing presentation and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of common software project management practices
  • Strong understanding of common software development practices

Responsibilities

  • Display a deep understanding of dynamics of client’s business organization
  • Independently translate a project into an appropriate work plan
  • Actively define client challenges; rapidly identifies core issues
  • Convert research findings into actionable and value-driving insights (‘connects the dots’)
  • Create and defend a compelling, fact-based story
  • Construct quality creative briefs with minor editing or supervision
  • Align deliverables and overall direction of project recommendations
  • Create ‘client ready’ deliverables
  • Connect strategy to other disciplines within the firm
  • Facilitate extension of work to other practices
  • Occasionally oversee small project teams
  • Maintain consistent client contact
  • Frequently participate in client work sessions and presentations
  • Establish relationships with mid-level members of client team (i.e., Director level)
  • Take the lead on drafting category or client point of view
  • Take the lead on writing proposal sections
  • Potentially lead the pitch/proposal process on smaller new business assignments
  • Work and interacts with team members from all departments
  • Invest most time actively ideating about clients’ unique differentiating qualities
  • Contribute to ideation methods and approach

Requirements

  • Familiarity with all core strategy subjects and significant capability in 1–2 specific areas (i.e., positioning and architecture)
  • Significant exposure to multiple industries with more in-depth knowledge of 1–2 industries
